APPLICATION FOR A MUNICIPALITY OF RESIDENCE IN FINLAND

You can use this form to request having your municipality of residence in Finland registered. Your municipality of residence is the municipality where you live.

When registering your municipality of residence, we will also include your address in the population information system. You can get a municipality of residence even if you do not have your own address (for example if you live in a refugee reception centre). In this case, you can have a postal address registered in addition to your municipality of residence.

When can you apply for municipality of residence with this form?
You can use this form only if these conditions are met:

You have received a Finnish residence permit based on temporary protection and the permit is valid for at least one year.
You have applied for a temporary protection permit at least one year ago.
You have a Finnish personal identity code.

How to fill in the application form
Fill in:

the information about family members living at the same address, if they also apply for municipality of residence

You need the information on your residence permit card while filling in the form. Please fill in the form carefully in Finnish, Swedish or English using the Latin alphabet.

Which date will be entered as the start date for the municipality of residence?
The date on which you submitted the request will be entered as the start date.

If a person does not have a residence permit on the basis of temporary protection or they have not yet lived in Finland for at least one year, they cannot use this form.

If you do not have an address of your own, your municipality of residence is, as a rule, the municipality
- that you consider to be your municipality of residence because of family relationships, livelihood or other similar reasons, and
- where you have the most established ties for these reasons.
