DEATH ABROAD

With this form, you can notify a death that occurred abroad to the Finnish Population Information System.

You will need one of the following documents:

Death certificate issued by an authority.
Death certificate issued by a doctor.
Another official document indicating the death (e.g., a population register extract).

You may also attach a copy of the deceased person's passport.

Do the following:

Read what documents are required for registering a death that occurred abroad.
Check if the documents need to be legalised or translated.
Get the documents you need.
Fill out the form and submit it only after you have all the required documents.
Submit the original documents to the Digital and Population Data Services Agency within 1 month of submitting the form.

DOCUMENTS

What kind of document do you have regarding the death?	I have an original stamped and/or signed paper document of a death that occurred abroad. I have an electronic certificate, which can be verified using a QR code or other online service. I do not have documentation of the death that occurred abroad.

I have a copy of the deceased person's passport.

Submit the original document to the Digital and Population Data Services Agency, following the instructions.

Attach to the form the electronic certificate.

Note that an electronic document does not mean a scanned document.
