You can use this form to request the registration of your personal data in the Finnish population information system. You will receive a Finnish personal identity code when you register. The code is 11 characters long and its first six digits consist of your date of birth (DDMMYY). If you have a residence permit, it is likely that you already have received a personal identity code from the Finnish Immigration Service. Use the form only if you are a foreign citizen and do not yet have a Finnish personal identity code.

First, tell us your information and how we can reach you if necessary during the processing of the registration. These contact details are not registered in the Finnish population information system but are used only in the handling of the matter. You will be informed when the registration is ready. Please note that it is required for the person asking a Finnish identity number to visit personally a service location of the Digital and Population Data Services Agency.
If the sex is marked in the passport as something other than a woman or a man, select a woman. In Finland's population data, other sexes are registered as women.

Marital status If you are under 18 years old and unmarried, we can register your marital status with this form. If you are over 18 years old leave this part empty and use a separate form if you want us to register you marital status.
*Nordic countries: Finland is one of the Nordic countries. Other countries are Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Greenland. If you are a citizen of these countries or of Estonia, or have lived permanently in these countries, you have a personal number in these countries.
Please enter your address in the correct format so that we can register it. Enter the full address, including the apartment code (letter and number). Example of a specific address: Example street 10 B 17
First, check that you meet the conditions for getting a municipality of residence. dvv.fi/en/municipality-of-residence . Complete the date field if you want us to register your address retroactively. If you do not give the date, the date on which you send this application is registered as the first date of your residence. The date may not be earlier than the date on which the conditions for granting a municipality of residence were met (for example, the first day of validity of your residence permit). However, the date may not be more than 30 days before the date on which you send the application. If you give an earlier date, the date on which you send the application is registered as the first date of the municipality of residence and the address.
The contact information will not be registered in the Population information system. They are used only for contact purposes in regard to your registration.
If your native language is neither Finnish nor Swedish, please indicate the language in which you would like to receive official messages that are not available in your native language.
